Music

Children are given many opportunities to take part in musical activities and performances.  All children learn to play the ukulele and steel pans.  Our Year 2 - 6 pupils have a weekly music lesson with a specialist music teacher.  In KS2 children can join our popular school choir which practises every week.  Our steel band, choir and dance club regularly perform in assemblies, festivals and special events in the community.  Our Year 4 - 6 pupils have the opportunity to participate in woodwind and string instrument lessons.

Sport

Children participate in two Physical Education lessons each week.  Most outdoor PE lessons are taught by a specialist PE Teacher.  In Years 4, 5 and 6 pupils attend swimming lessons at Wavelengths Swimming Pool.

We offer several sports after school clubs each term and we also have a football team who compete against local schools.  We work with other local organisations to provide our pupils with further opportunities to participate in sporting activities and competitive tournaments.

Trips and Visits

Children have the opportunity to participate in a range of school trips in order to support their classwork and enhance their learning.  These include London museums, local parks and environmental centres, farms and zoos.  Special trips such as ice-skating, a trip to the beach, a west-end musical and a pantomime all add to our pupils’ experiences and helps them to develop social skills.

We also invite many visitors into school to share their expertise with the children and make learning interactive and fun.

Year 6 School Journey

In Year 6 the children take part in an annual residential trip to Kingswood Activity Centre, Ashford, Kent.  Ashford is only 1 hour away by car, so is an ideal location.

The accommodation and food are of a very good standard.  The children and Childeric Staff had a great time on our visit to Kingswood in October 2023.  Our next visit will be in November 2024.

The children participate in a number of outdoor and indoor activities such as kayaking, climbing, abseiling, swimming, archery and orienteering.

Our Year 6 groups practise working as a team and always return united and ready for the year ahead.
